Well, I cannot say that I am not tempted to experiment with Google Adsense – especially reading two articles labeled blogging for bucks on respectively Wired News and Poynter E-Media.
Although this blog has not undergone any form of search engine optimization (apart from being a wordpress blog, with often updated content), my log files shows a decent flow of visitors from search engines all over the world. I don’t want an ad-blog, but I am not wealthy enough (yet) to ignore a possibility to make a little money on something I like doing.
I had Adsense for a year on my blog. I made 100$.
They send the check in the mail.
5 in 1000 visits was converted into a click. A click would make anything from 5 cents to 5 dollars. 20 cents was the average I think.
I had 102.000 visits to my site in 2004.
It’s not that my blog is totally unknown, although it is far from an A-list blog.
You need to be able to command a vast audience to make money.
Experiences are always welcome
Regarding that your blog commands an audience of greater vastitude than this blog – implementing AdSense might be a bit optimistic. None the less – I might play around with it just for the fun of it.
I just wanted to let you know the ‘rithmetic in this game. I guess that some very focused bloggers would have more “luck” than I and get a better click rate.
I just put the Adsense block on top of the blog.
