halflife2

I’ve just purchased halflife 2 – it has gotten the finest reviews in all magazines. I really look forward to playing the game. But I’ve been istalling for half an hour now: the product requires that I register online to play the game on my computer, and apparently are all files installed on my computer encrypted in some form. I am puzzled that this tedious and time consuming procedure has not been mentioned in any of the reviews I have seen.
As this is my first purchase of an original computergame in newer time this might be standard procedure, although I seriously doubt it…
Hm – decrypting the files is going on 30 minutes in it self now – there really should be a usability standard for installing computergames.

Update:
Found the review in Politiken that Nis mentioned. And Nis: Half Life 2 rocks! Despite my issues with the mandatory internet connection, long loading times and user unfriendly installation process – I must admit that HL2 is the most detailed game I’ve ever played – once you get started, you’re hooked. Of course you need to start up in small doses; I got motion sickness the first couple of hours. It seems that it is quite a common phenomenon
