Digital Frontier – the doors are open

A couple of months ago I sat down with a group of former colleagues from the SEO company formerly known as Notabene.net. While bemoaning the fact that a lot of the interesting news we shared with each other at our desks didn’t go further than sporadic messenger conversations and emails, the idea of a blog collaboration project arose.
As we were all thoroughly brain washed to believe that the world revolves around SEO, SEM, and ROI, it was an easy task to pick the focus of our blog. But as we have now branched out in different directions, our information intake will probably be mirrored by our respective jobs and activities.
So without further ado, I invite you to come see us at the Digital Frontier – read, comment, share.

Sitelinks… Me too :-)

Lars Bachmann showed off his brand new sitelinks some days ago. Yesterday I realized that this blog now also has sitelinks:

…ok so Lars has more sitelinks. But then again… he probably has more traffic, more incoming kinks, and more ‘popular pages’.

A little intra- and extrapolation then leads me to conclude that:

  1. Sitelinks are not for the chosen few
  2. …but sitelinks depend on a website where the actual query is very relevant.’
  3. The number of sitelinks are affected by popular pages

And there is lots of polations to be found here: factors to generate sitelinks.

Hooray for Clueray

I made my first query on Clueray and waited for more than 20 seconds for the results – luckily I was warned that it might be slow – but it was a while worth waiting. Clueray challenges the way documents are served on the SERP by looking at the ‘document intent’:

One of the key insights leading to the development of Clueray’s unique intent-driven approach was to recognize that all of these different document types can be organized by intent: the intent to inform, the intent to facilitate a transaction, the intent to that serve as a “launching point” for exploring related topics, etc. Interestingly, these document intents map very nicely onto the types of searches people do which have been identified by researchers.

This means that you can filter your results according to your specific needs – and by the looks of the search results, the SERP has a range of additional features – one of which is a couple of new ways to display an the results.

Klovnehat seo – et ukendt men udbredt fænomen

Der er de to kendte modsætninger white hat seo og black hat seo – idag skal vi se på en af de mere ukendte, men desværre meget udbredte klovnehat seo

I see that I must have been inspired by this post on Matt Cutts blog. But I like the clown hat seo title so much that I actually consiered starting clown-hat dot something as a place for pointing your fingers at clown hat seo practice.

Maybe a clown image could brand the bugger and help me on the way:

Update:
It seems that Google-bombs are most effective on a short time span basis. My attempts on Google Bombing creates fast but short lived results on the actual search phrase. This indicates that the effect of single google bombs (my findings are only based on my own google bombs) ‘wears off’ quite quickly.

Ingen kender dagen

Dagen opstår som internetavis – det udsagn er jeg stødt på flere gange i den seneste tid. Og det var jeg glad for; der var sgu klasse over drengene fra Dagen…
Men, men, men, glæden er kort – fra Dagens website linkes til en artikel i Politiken, der fortæller om den nye internetavis.
Dog er det ikke Dagens oprindelige bagmænd, der står bag det nye tiltag.

Det er kun selve bomærket, som TrafikOptimering overtager, hverken Dagens tidligere initiativtager, Peter Linck, eller andre af Dagens profiler har noget som helst med projektet at gøre.

Derfor er det desværre med forbeholden skepsis jeg imødeser Dagens komme – specielt set i lyset af at der nederst på Dagens sider ligger nogle søgemaskineoptimerede sager og ønsker synlighed på ord som nyheder, vejrudsigt, aktiekurser og så videre. Det kan blive godt, og det kan blive skidt.
(og nu skal man ikke pege fingre, når man selv leger med adsense og alt det der, men det virker altså lidt sølle at trække adsense ind over et site, der angiveligt er en internet-udgave af Dagen…)
